WHEREAS, highest commendations are hereby extended to the 22nd Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force on its efforts to eradicate illegal drugs in Covington County, Alabama; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the 22nd Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force is to eliminate the use, sale, and transportation of illegal drugs in Covington County, Alabama, by conducting aggressive, effective, and ethical counter-drug operations leading to the successful prosecution of drug offenders; and
WHEREAS, the task force was established on September 1, 2000, by an A.D.E.C.A. Grant and, since that date, 149 arrests have been made and the conviction rate of cases reaching the Circuit Court level stands at 100 percent; and
WHEREAS, during its existence, 46 operational and non-operational Methamphetamine labs have been seized; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 2001, the 22nd Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force recovered more than 12 gallons of Methamphetamine oil weighing 101 pounds, making this one of the largest, if not the largest, recoveries of Methamphetamine oil in the history of the State of Alabama; and
WHEREAS, the outstanding members of the drug task force are: Prosecuting Attorney, Ben Bowden; Commander Mike Bowlan of the Andalusia Police Department; Investigators Van Simmons and Mark Odom of the Covington County Sheriff's Office; Investigator Jamey Wismer of the Opp Police Department; and Investigator Paul Dean of the Andalusia Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the people of the State of Alabama are proud to recognize the members of the 22nd Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force who risk their own personal safety in an effort to eradicate illegal drugs in Covington County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That in recognition of exemplary efforts and outstanding accomplishments, highest commendations are hereby extended to the 22nd Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, and it is directed that a copy of this resolution shall be provided as a token of our utmost gratitude and esteem.
