WHEREAS, herein recorded with deepest sorrow and regret is the death of Bertha Lee Wilder on April 17, 2001; and

WHEREAS, Bertha Lee Wilder was born on March 23, 1912, in Greene County, Alabama, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Giles, Sr.; and

WHEREAS, she confessed Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and joined Christian Light Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she faithfully served wherever she was needed and in numerous capacities, including Mother of the Church and as a member of the Missionary Society, the choir, and Sunday School; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Wilder served as a Past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star #705 O. E. S., a member of Moses Delight Court #48, a Past Senior Matron of Moses Delight Court, and a member of the Heroines of Jericho; and

WHEREAS, she also was a member of the R.S.V.P. of Greene County, as well as a member of the Willing Workers Club, and served as a field worker for educational scholarships for the Tuscaloosa Presbytery; and

WHEREAS, Bertha Lee and the late Lesley Wilder, Sr., were joined in Holy Matrimony in 1933 and became the proud parents of two fine sons; Mr. and Mrs. Wilder were happily married until Mr. Wilder's death on December 8, 1972; and

WHEREAS, left to cherish her memory are her beloved sons, Lesley Wilder, Jr., and Willie H. Wilder, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Dr. Barbara S. Wilder; five grandchildren, Eric Wilder; Wayne Wilder and his wife, Dana; Darryl Wilder; Donna Wilder; and Willie H. Wilder, Jr.; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Pearl Humphries and Mrs. Laster Rice; sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Lee Wilder; and a host of other close relatives and friends; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That even as we mourn her death, we give thanks for the life and service of Bertha Lee Wilder, and direct that a copy of this resolution be provided to her family so that they may know we sincerely share the sorrow of their great and grievous loss.
