RECOGNIZING THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF MAIN DRUG STORE IN UNION SPRINGS, ALABAMA, ON MARCH 15, 2004.
WHEREAS, it is with great pride and pleasure that we recognize the 60th Anniversary of Main Drug Store in Union Springs, Alabama, which celebrated its 60th Anniversary on March 15, 2004; and
WHEREAS, Main Drug Store has provided and faithfully delivered prescription drugs and countless other items for townspeople in Union Springs since its grand opening by Betty Main and her late husband, Pete Main, on March 15, 1944, and, in 1967, was featured in the "American Druggist Magazine"; and
WHEREAS, Betty and her sons, James Allen Main, John Thomas Main, and Benjamin Gordon Main; grandson, Thomas Allen Main; other dedicated employees, Clemise Hurst, Brenda Renfroe, Glenda Jordan, Dorothy Surles, Ashley Brunson, and Lyra Richardson; and deliveryman Mike Head; have, over the years, provided a tradition of high quality professionalism for their customers, which is essential for a small business; and
WHEREAS, Betty Main, one of those rare individuals who will not be able to be replaced, continues to provide outstanding service and wise counsel to her many customers in Union Springs, the people and town she truly loves; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That in recognition of outstanding service, it is with tribute and esteem that we recognize the 60th Anniversary of Main Drug Store in Union Springs, Alabama, a gathering place for the young and young at heart, which was held on March 15, 2004.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be provided to Betty Main for appropriate presentation and display at Main Drug Store.
