COMMENDING MR. GERALD E. TOLAND FOR OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT.

WHEREAS, we extend highest commendation to Mr. Gerald C. Toland of Huntsville, Alabama, for his outstanding accomplishments as President of the Redstone Federal Credit Union (RFCU); and

WHEREAS, Mr. Toland received his Bachelor's Degree from Rutgers University, earned a Certificate of Installment Lending from Colorado University and a Certificate of Commercial Lending from Robert Morris Association, and accumulated numerous other credits from courses and seminars; and

WHEREAS, after serving several years as President of Credit Unions in New Jersey, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania, he assumed the position at Redstone in 1991, and has continued until the present time; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure Mr. Toland has led RFCU's controlled asset growth from $600 million to over $2.0 billion; the net worth has increased to 11.34% of assets; and he has supported comprehensive training programs for employees; and

WHEREAS, his professional affiliations include the Credit Union Executives Society and the National Association of Federal Credit Unions; he also maintains active membership in the American Legion, Elks, Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, and Veterans of Foreign Wars; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Toland has been a dynamic and effective civic leader, chairing or supporting efforts which contributed to the improvement of the Huntsville community such as: Leadership Huntsville; Heritage Club Board of Governors; Better Business Bureau Foundation Board Chair; United Way Board; Harris Home for Children; Huntsville Library Foundation Board; Huntsville Committee of 100; and countless others; he received the 2005 Distinguished Service Award from the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce and was listed by Who's Who of American Business Leaders and Oxford Who's Who Elite Registry of Extraordinary Professionals; and

WHEREAS, supported by his wife, Veronica, and three children, Mark, Tracy, and Nadine, Mr. Toland has been invaluable to the Redstone Federal Credit Union and the City of Huntsville; he is highly respected by associates, employees, and fellow citizens who admire his expertise and commitment; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That on the occasion of his retirement from the Redstone Federal Credit Union, we offer highest tribute to Mr. Gerald E. Toland for his accomplishments and years of service, and by copy of this resolution, we extend sincere best wishes for a rewarding future.
