Representative Jack Williams was elected in 2004 to the Alabama House of Representatives. He represents the cities of Hoover and Vestavia in District 47. Currently Williams Chairs the Commerce and Small Business Committee.
Prior to being elected to the Alabama House of Representatives, Williams served eight years as Jefferson County Tax Collector.
Early in his political career, Williams worked with former Alabama Republican Party Chairman Marty Connors to found the Southern Republican Exchange, a political think-tank that provided policy ideas to Republicans elected at the state and local level. Immediately prior to becoming Tax Collector, Williams served as the Executive Director of the Alabama House Republican Caucus. In 2003, Williams served as a trainer for the International Republican Institute’s Haiti Project. He also served as a delegate to the 2008 Republican National Convention.
Williams has been recognized nationally for his leadership abilities. He served as President for the National Conference of Republican County Officials. He also served as First-Vice President for the National Association of County Treasurers and Finance Officers. In 2012 he was selected as a Toll Fellow by the Council of State Governments. In 2014 Williams was recognized as ALEC’s Legislator of the Year. Currently Williams serves on the National Advisory Board of GOPAC.
Locally, Williams has chaired several organizations including the Greater Birmingham Habitat for Humanity, the Jefferson County Department of Human Resources Quality Assurance Committee, and the Greater Birmingham Young Republicans. He is currently a member of The Birmingham Tip-Off Club and the Monday Morning Quarterback Club. Williams was recognized as the Public Official of the year in 2006 by the Alabama Habitat for Humanity affiliates. He was recognized in 2014 as the Local Elected Official of the Year by the Greater Birmingham Young Republicans.
Williams, a graduate of Southeastern Bible College; He has two sons, Regan and Jordan. Williams is a member of Fullness Christian Fellowship.
