Senator Marsh is serving his sixth term in the Senate. He is a graduate of Auburn University. He is a Republican.

Senator Marsh was first elected President Pro Tempore of the Senate on December 8, 2010, and pursuant to constitutional provision, again on January 11, 2011, on the first day of the 2011 Organizational Session. He was also elected President Pro Tempore for the 2015-2018 quadrennium and again for the 2019-2022 quadrennium.
