Saturday, Dec. 24, 1825.  the Senate met pursuant to adjournment.

Mr. Bagby from the committee on schools and colleges, and school and college lands to which was referred a petition on the subject, reported a bill to be entitled an act to authorize the commissioners of the 16th section therein named, to appropriate the proceeds thereof to the aid and support of Concord academy, which was read and ordered to be read the 2d time on Tuesday next.

Mr. Crawford from the committee on the judiciary to which was referred a bill to be entitled an act for the relief of Thomas Hearne, reported the same without amendment.  Ordered that the bill be engrossed and made the order of the day for a 3d reading on Monday next.

Mr. Sullivan introduced a bill to be entitled an act providing for the appointment of commissioners to select a certain quarter section of land for the county of Bibb and for other purposes, which was read and ordered to be read a 2d time on Tuesday next.

Mr. Jackson of A. offered the following resolution, Resolved, that the military committee be instructed to inquire into the expediency of dividing the 23d regiment of the militia of this state, and forming two regiments of the same, which was adopted.

Mr. Casey offered the following resolution, Resolved that the judiciary committee be instructed to inquire into the expediency of lengthening the time for which the commissioners of roads and revenue are hereafter to be elected, which was adopted.

Engrossed bill to be entitled an ct to repeal an act entitled an act to amend an act to establish a turnpike road leading from Lawrence county to intersect the military road at Pikesville in Marion county, passed Dec. 24, 1823, and to revive so much of the act as the above recited act repealed, and for other purposes; and An act for the relief of the tax collector of Mobile county, were severally read the 3d time and passed.  Ordered that the titles of the bills be as aforesaid and that they be sent to the House of Representatives for concurrence.

A bill to be entitled an act granting relief to parties in the supreme court in certain cases was read the 2d time, amended, and the rule requiring bills to be read on three several days, being dispensed with, it was read the 3d time as amended and passed.  Ordered that the secretary acquaint the House of Representatives therewith.

A bill to be entitled an act to change the names of & legitimate certain persons therein named, was read the 3d time as amended and passed.  Ordered that the secretary inform the House of Reps. thereof.

A bill to be entitled an act to amend the charter of the Bank of the state of Alabama was read the 2d time, amended, and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading on Monday next.

Mr. Bagby introduced a bill to be entitled an act giving additional compensation to the solicitor of the first judicial circuit, which was read and ordered to be read the 2d time on Tuesday next.

And then the Senate adjourned till Monday morning at 10 o'clock.
