Representative Tommy Sherer was first elected in 2002 and is serving his second term in the Alabama House of Representatives.
Representative Sherer was born in Walker County in 1948 and graduated from Walker High School in 1966. He received his B.S. from Jacksonville State University, Masters of Education Music from Samford University, and Education Specialist from University of Alabama at Birmingham. Representative Sherer retired from education in June 2002 after 32 years as a teacher, central office supervisor and principal.
He and his wife Jeanette have two children: Christopher Sherer and Sondra Purdes, as well as one grandchild, Amy Purdes.
