Representative Butch Taylor is serving his first term in the Alabama House of Representatives. He was elected to the House District 22 seat in a special election held on March 6, 2007.

He retired after teaching science and coaching for 31 years in the Madison County School System. He served on the New Hope City Council and the Madison County Board of Education, including one term as President.

Representative Taylor has one son and two grandchildren.
