Representative Mary Sue McClurkin was elected in 1998.
She was born on February 14, 1947, received her B.S. from Huntingdon College, and M.A. from Auburn University.
She and her husband, Van, are the parents of three children: Burt, Ben, and Daniel, and they have three grandsons.
Representative McClurkin is the owner of McClurkin Enterprises, and is a member of the Briarwood Presbyterian Church.
Representative McClurkin serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Business Council of Alabama, and Women in Government.
She has also served as past Chairman for the Red Cross of Shelby County, past Chairman of the Shelby County Economic Development Council, and former member of the Board of Directors for the YMCA, Briarwood Christian School and the Board of Trustees for the Baptist Health System.
