Representative Dickie Drake was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in a special election on November 29, 2011. He will complete the term of his brother, Representative Owen Drake, who died earlier in 2011.

Representative Drake is the co-owner of Drake Lawn Maintenance, LLC, and served 42 years in the military and is a retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant.

During that time he served in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Kosovo, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Representative Drake flew 102 combat sorties with over 500 hours of combat time.

Representative Drake participates in numerous charitable and philanthropic community groups, coached youth baseball for 17 years, and serves on the Jefferson County Republican Executive Committee. He is past president and current board member of Leeds Historical Society; member of Chambers of Commerce in Leeds, Center Point, Irondale, Moody, and Mountain Brook; past vice president of Leeds Jaycees; past president of Leeds Youth Baseball where he served two terms; charter member of Leeds Exchange Club; member of the Chief's Council, 117th ARW, and a member of of E-9 Association, State of Alabama.  Member of advisory board of Lehigh Hanson/Leeds Community, Member of 3 Hots and a Cot (Homeless Veterans) advisory board.

He has been married to the former Anita Smith for 42 years and they have two sons; Heath (Ashley) and Jared (Kellye), both of whom are officers in the military.

Representative Drake also has four grandchildren, Lexi and Jackson, Colin and Addye.

He is a member of Leeds First Baptist Church.
