Representative Greg Wren is serving his third term in the Alabama House of Representatives. He served from 1994 through 2002 and was elected to his current term in 2005.
He holds a B.A. in Public Administration from the University of Alabama and currently owns Wren and Associates with areas of expertise in grassroots and advocacy efforts in areas such as insurance and financial services, health care, energy, tax and fiscal policy, and military issues. He is also a Chartered Financial Consultant (CHFC) specializing in corporate business arrangements, estate and gift tax planning, tax and investment programs, financial planning, budgeting and performance reviews and recommendations.
In addition to the House Standing Committees he serves on, Representative Wren also serves as Co-chairman of the Joint Legislative Energy Committeee.
He serves as Chairman of the State-Federal Affairs Committee of the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL), and as Vice-Chairman of the Commerce, Financial Services and Communications Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), and is a member of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) Commerce, Insurance and Economic Development Task Force, and on the Council of State Governments.
Representative Wren was awarded the Congressional Medial of Distinction by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), appointed to serve on the Business Advisory Council of the Republican National Committee (RNC), and awarded Lawmaker of the Year by the Independent Insurance Agents' Association of Alabama
From 1977-1981, Representative Wren served as a Legislative Analyst for the Legislative Fiscal Office, served as Staff Assistant to the United State Senate, served as Governmental Affairs Director, Alabama Association of REALTORS.
