Representative Charles Newton was elected in 1989. He was born on July 11, 1947, and received his B.S. and M.A. from the University of Alabama. He and his wife, Jan, are the parents of three children: Ollie, Seth, and Lila. Representative Newton serves as President of Newton Oil Company. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Greenville, the Cattlemen's Association, Greenville Rotary Club, Greenville Chamber of Commerce, and the Alabama Historical Association. He has served as a Greenville City Councilman, and currently serves as Director of the Greenville Bank.
