Current Legislative, Congressional and Board of Education Districts
The current Legislative, Congressional and Board of Education district maps became effective for the Primary and General Elections of 2002.
The new district maps are in the Adobe Acrobat PDF format. Most are 300 - 600K in size and will take several minutes to download on slower connections. Several are approximately 1 MB in size. Using the PDF format allows you to zoom in to street level to better determine your location and district.
In keeping with the Constitution of Alabama, the Alabama Legislature enacted a legislative redistricting plan, embodied in Act 01-727 (Senate districts), Act 01-729 (House Districts), Act 02-57 (Congressional Plan) and Act 02-73 (State Board of Education). Because Alabama falls under the oversight provisions of the Federal Voting Rights Act, the aforementioned Acts were subject to approval by the United States Department of Justice. The Legislative, Congressional and Board of Education district plans received such approval by the Justice Department and became effective and operable upon the 2002 General election.
This section contains maps, representing the new districts as created by Act 01-727, Act 01-729, Act 02-57 and Act 02-73.
