HONORING THE LIFE OF MR. SPENCER T. BACHUS, JR., OF HOOVER, ALABAMA.
WHEREAS, we hereby honor the life of Mr. Spencer T. Bachus, Jr., of Hoover, Alabama, who passed away on January 29, 2005, at the age of 86 years; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Spencer Bachus was reared in the Acipco Community, attended Phillips High School, and graduated from Auburn University in 1939 with a degree in mechanical engineering; a veteran of World War II, he returned home and opened a cabinet shop with his cousin and became associated with partners, Ellis and Howard Hallmark, building churches, schools, and businesses throughout Alabama; and
WHEREAS, a longtime member of Lakeside Baptist Church, Mr. Bachus served for more than 20 years as teacher of the Senior Men's Sunday School Bible Class; one of the original founders of Carpenter's for Christ, he was a kind and caring man who loved the Lord and his family; and
WHEREAS, left to cherish the memory of Spencer Bachus are his devoted wife of more than 60 years, Edith Wells Bachus; son, Spencer T. (Linda) Bachus, III; grandchildren, Warren Bachus, Stuart Bachus, Elliot Bachus, Candace Bevill, and Lisa (Carl) Douglas; great-grandson, Christopher Lee Douglas; and
WHEREAS, the life of Mr. Spencer Bachus made a lasting impression on his community and in the hearts of his family, neighbors, and friends who knew and loved him; it is most fitting that special recognition is bestowed upon him; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That the life of Mr. Spencer T. Bachus, Jr., of Hoover, Alabama, is hereby recognized and honored; it is further directed that a copy of this resolution shall be provided to his lovely wife with our sincere tribute.
