WHEREAS, it is with pleasure that heartiest congratulations are herein extended to Matthew Ryan Goodwin, a resident of Pell City, Alabama, and member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 210, for obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank obtainable in the Boy Scouts of America; and
WHEREAS, Matthew has been in scouting since the young age of seven years; he has earned 60 merit badges, is a member of the Brotherhood Order of the Arrow, and, for his Eagle Scout project, he organized and constructed a picnic and meeting pavilion for the local animal shelter; and
WHEREAS, Matthew is an outstanding student at Pell City High School, where he is a USAA All-American Scholar, received National Achievement Honors and Academic All-American, named Who's Who in High School, and is a member of the National Honor Roll; in addition, he is a respected member of the Beta Club, French Club, and French National Honor Society, and was voted Most Talented during his senior year; and
WHEREAS, Matthew has played the trumpet in the Marching Band for six years and is well-known for his exceptional talents as a Section Leader and member of the Concert Band and Jazz Band; and
WHEREAS, Matthew has indeed exemplified those finest attributes of self-discipline and self-reliance, good citizenship, and concern for his fellowman, and he is especially deserving of this distinguished honor; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That in recognition of outstanding achievement, and on his attainment of the rank of Eagle Scout, highest commendation is hereby accorded Matthew Ryan Goodwin of Pell City, Alabama, for whom a copy of this resolution is provided as an expression of our tribute and esteem.
