Senator Zeb Little |
Senator Little was born in Cullman on August 24, 1968, and received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama-Birmingham and Juris Doctorate from Cumberland School of Law of Samford University. He is serving his third term in the Senate and is a Democrat. Senator Little is an attorney and is married to the former Deanna Smith of Cullman. They have two children: a son, Zebulon Peyton, Jr., and a daughter, Emily Britt. He is a member of St. John’s United Church, the Alabama State and Cullman County Bar Associations, the Bar Associations of the United States District Court for the Northern and Middle Districts of Alabama.
Pursuant to Senate Rule 47(a), Senator Little was appointed Senate Floor Leader and Majority Leader by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate during the 2002-2006 quadrennium, and reappointed on January 16, 2007 for the current quadrennium. Under Rule 47(c), the Senate Floor Leader serves as a voting Member of all Senate Standing Committees, except those pertaining to local legislation. The Senate Floor Leader may designate in writing, to the Secretary of the Senate, the name of a Senator to represent him on any Senate Standing Committee upon which he serves by virtue of this Rule, provided such designee is not already a Member of such Committee, and provided that such designation not extend beyond one year without further notification to the Secretary.
Committees:
- Pursuant to Senate Rule 47(c), the Senate Majority Leader serves on all Senate standing committees, with the exception of the local legislation committees, and may designate, in writing, another Senator to serve in his place on any of these committees. By appointment of the Committee on Assignments, Senator Little also serves on Local Legislation No. 1 (Chairperson).
