Senator Means was born in Attalla on April 20, 1947, and received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Jacksonville State University. Having served the City of Attalla as both a City Councilman and Mayor, Senator Means is serving his third term in the Senate and is a Democrat. He is married to the former Karen Gidley of Attalla and they have two children: Tanya and Brent. He is a member of Attalla First Baptist Church, a member of the Attalla Lions Club, serves on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is a former chairman of the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). Senator Means enjoys golf, fishing and hunting.
