Senator Taylor was elected to the Alabama Senate on November 2, 2010. He is a conservative Republican, an Iraq War veteran, a Major in the Alabama National Guard, a practicing attorney, and a small business owner.

Senator Taylor received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alabama and his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

He and his wife, Jessica, and their two children, Samuel and Fair, live in Prattville. They are members of Prattville First United Methodist Church.
